Happy Birthday, the Chapter's 9th was celebrated

Hello everyone,

Today is the day a new sketch\ is released for Sketches: Creatively Yours.  We also have the inspiration of music.
Here is the sketch:

and here is the inspiration picture:

So I thought about this and wanted to use 2 punches I don't use often.  The first was a border punch by Martha Stewart that says, Happy Birthday and the second was a punch by EK Success that had music notes on it.  I thought I would use the peek-a-boo technique using Red and Purple the colors of the Red Hat Society.

Here is the layout:

I added bling next to the flower used thickers which I changed to lavender by inking them and had some hidden journaling written on the tags slipped behind the pictures and having twine on the top of the tag.

This was a fun picture of our chapter celebrating at a Birthday Tea.

Remember to link us up to your creation for this Challenge using Mr. Linky, below. You only have until April 30, at midnight, AST.

Each layout you create will net you a chance to win the prize package being offered by our Guest Designer, Jenifer Cowles.

A Prize Draw by random.org on April 30th after midnight (AST) from ALL the LO's linked up on the Blog using Mr. Linky this month!

Inspiration Elevator Challenge

Hi just wanted to stop by and tell you I have been inspired by Audrey Yeager.  I have been watching her style at My Scraps and More a when she offered an online class -- I took it to learn and look at things differently to grow more.
Audrey uses stencils and paint splatters and layers of items.  I am liking what  see and she does the visual triangle.

I found this layout on her blog and knew that it grabbed me.
See the stencil behind the square and the paint splatters.

So here is mine and the circles are what was stenciled. Now I got the stencil in the class but can't show you the sketch.
Here is my take on stencils:

I like how it came out and Thanks Audrey for inspiring me.  I will be entering this layout in the Inspiration Elevator challenge.  It really made me work outside of my comfort zone.

April reveal on My Sketch World

Spring has sprung and my roses are really blooming and I see the humming birds around along with lots of others.  Seeing this inspired me to make a  Birthday card celebrating Spring with the sketch that Lucy made at My Sketch World

So I took Lucy Chesna's sketch:

Then I added my inspiration of Spring and came up with this card.

I used some light blue cardstock, some old Pebbles scraps which I punched banners out of and on the green and white polka dotted paper I used a Martha Stewart punch of rain drops, I had some pink frayed burlap, 2 embellishments from pebbles that wen with the line and SRM  stickers at the bottom that says "Happy Birthday to You".  Personally I like how it came out and can't wait to send it to a friend who has a birthday in April.

Come on over to My Sketch World and try this cute sketch.  I hope to see you there.

Things with Wings is new challenge at Cards in Envy

Hello,

I have a new challenge for you at Cards in Envy. This challenge is not a sketch so it can be anything with WINGS.

I had a lot of fun with this card. Whenever I think of wings I think of butterflies and happy colors.  So I picked yellow and white as my happy colors of cardstock.  I found my Martha Stewart punch and punched out 12 butterflies.  I made a banner at the bottom with SRM sticker and cardstock.  I ran the white paper through the embosser of tiny dots  and here is a card for a friends birthday in April.  I hope she does not see it.

Come on over and play with us at Cards in Envy, I would love to see your take on what you will do.
Just a reminder about kind of card fits:

Remember, your card needs to fit in a regular envelope for mailing and NOT require extra postage. No extra thick lumpy, bumpy embellishments--nothing thicker than a regular shirt button . Card should not be any thicker than 1/4 inch. 5x5 Cards will fit into a 5x7 Greeting Card envelope. 6x6 cards require additional postage and therefore will not be allowed. If you love square cards, though smaller, you can make 4.25 x 4.25 cards and they will fit in a regular envelope. You can also make shaped cards or easel cards as long as they are the proper size and are also not too thick.

Die cuts or Punches for Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog

Today we have a new challenge over at Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog
This is Challenge #4 and you must use a die cut and/or punch.
The Challenge runs April 15-28 and is sponsored by Sassy Studio Designs.
You can win some Digi's from Sassy Studio Designs.

Now I will describe what came up with.  I decided not to go traditional choose a Halloween Digi called Jack the Pumpkin King and cut it out and colored it using my Creative memories pens and mounted him on a black cardstock.  I gave  Trick or Treat bag by Jolee.  For the Background I used a die I got from Taylored Expression called Chevron Cutting Plate.  I absolutely love Chevrons and I feel it was a great background in orange.  I put it on Black Cardstock and n ow I have one done for Halloween in October.

Come on over and give it a try and you might win the monthly prize.

My homework with Stencils

I am taking class with Audrey Yeager and this is week #2 at My Scraps and More. Our homework was to use a stencil she gave us and use some of the techniques she showed us.  She gave us a sketch, but it had flowers so I had to make it masculine, since flowers would not work I used gears.

Here is the sketch:

This is what I did:

I don't usually use stencils with ink, so this opened me up to a whole new world and I even learned to use part of the stencil, which looked like a sun with rays.  I spattered some tattered angel and left the chipboard naked because it was white.

Here is close-up of the corner and I think it came out better than I imagined.

I even used one of the emblems he stripped off his bike to put in the center of it.

I also wantd to use some chevron in it,because I love them with my Boy's layouts, so About a Boy had a challengChevrons and I am entering it there.  I also had a challeng at My Sketch World to try something new and that I did.  I did not even hurt the paper.

Reveal time for Sketches:Creatively Yours using Texas MSW Crop in 2012

Hello,

Today there is a new reveal at Sketches:  Creatively Yours and I am excited to work with the sketch.  For this lovely and inspiring sketch I wanted to do some photo's of a crop I went to in Texas.  I wanted to use a lot of textures and the colors of blue and green and possibly beige or brown from the photo.

Here is the inspiration for the sketch:

I went searching thru my papers and came across a Lily Bee Design called Picket Fence.  I found it in a kit I got and have never broken open, so I also pulled some banners made out of wood, twine (of course), a doily from Webster's Pages, a Polaroid frame, some ink and some funky ribbon.  First I inked the edges and placed on cardstock with ribbon, next I matted my photo's in cardstock, I inked the frame and banner added some twine, placed the pictures according to the sketch and added the doily.  Sounds so simple, but it took more thought in the process before I was happy with it.

This is the sketch:

This is what I came up:

Come on over and give your try and personality to this sketch at Sketches:  Creatively Yours.  I hope to see you over there.

Cup of Cheer at Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog

Hi,

A new challenge is happening at Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog.  This will be challenge #3 which is from April 1 - 14.  It is a recipe challenge and wants 3 or more layers.  The prize for this one is:  Prize is $12 gift certificate to  A Day For Daisies shop an here is their link:  http://adayfordaisies.com/

This is what I came up with:

I used the digital stamp:  Petal in a Teacup from A Day For Daisies shop and I paper pieced it with cardstock and some patterned paper I have.  On the front I used a small polka dot paper from Bo Bunny and chose to pick up the pink and green.  Behind the teacup I put a doily and had a stamp that I stamped, "Cup of Cheer" I made the card into a Easel Card
and here is a shot of the border I used on the inside

The buttons are dressed with twine and the paper sits inside ofa piece of cardstock with scalloped border.
